ALPHA RADIO 103.2 JEFF WINTER FOOTBALL SHOWS 01325 255555 25-8-08

What a day as three last minute goals kill all of our sides. Sometimes I just don't know why we don't all find something else to do on a Saturday afternoon!! As they say in the song, "Things can only get better."

The lunchtime show featured interviews with Darlo Manager Dave Penney and Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson.

Gary Pallister was my guest for On the Spot. Pally's music to get him in the mood for match day action was "In the Name of Love" by U2.

During the course of the season, I will be putting more players and also fans on the spot. So if you fancy doing a quick recorded interview with me, please get in touch.

As you can see from the website, we have developed a relationship with The Great Air Ambulance and William Hill. The bookies are giving me a series of Charity bets to try and make money for a very worthwhile cause.

I was amazed to find out that this is a Charity that receives no public funding. At Durham Tees Valley, they need to raise £1.2million each year to provide a vital service that helps save lives every day of the week.

Each Saturday at 1.15 pm, I catch up with the boys from William Hill and I place my bets. These will appear on my website each preceding Wednesday so you can join me in having a flutter if you wish.

This weekend, I tipped Boro to draw and Pools and Darlo both to win in a treble where you have to get all three correct to collect.

My correct score singles were Boro 1-1, Darlo 2-1 and Pools 2-1. The simple fact is that all three were wrong but that only tells half a story as they were very close to being winners. Better luck next week.

Coupled with that, our horse racing tips could have done better. A second at 6/1 and the other one nowhere. Our luck has to change next weekend.

On the Phone-In, we had tons of callers. John had been at Liverpool, Nick had been at Pools and Tom had been at the Darlo game with Gary, who had jumped out of a plane at 10,000 feet for charity. I know a few other fans who felt like doing that after the games.

We had Dave Penney on after the game and also a lively debate between Darlo fans Hutchy and Shaun. Both are committed to the cause but one of them has stopped going to matches. It is worth listening to the podcast if you missed it.

I hope that I can encourage more of you to contact me after games. It's the opinions of the true fans that I want.

Don't forget that the Darlo Supporters Clubs are running buses to both Watford 26/8 and Macclesfield 30/8. Seats can be booked by ringing 01325 243911. With the cost of fuel nowadays, it is usually far cheaper to go on the bus.

This was by far the busiest Phone-in show so far, keep your calls coming in.

If you missed the shows, you can catch up with them on the podcast from Monday each week.

To the competitions and across the two shows we had matchday tickets and meals to give away.

The carvery for two at the Darlington Arena was won by David from Middlesbrough who played Jeff's Meat and Two Veg and sorted out that the meat was the fact that Arsenal scored the opening goal in the Premier League this season.

The Half-time Entertainment slot for a Meal for Two at a Jo Rigatonis restaurant of your choice was won by Tinhead from Darlington who worked out that "History Repeating Itself" by Propeller Heads was with reference to Argentina retaining the Olympic Football Title.

We had tickets to give away for this Saturday's game between Boro and Stoke City too. Walshy's Wingman alias John won them for knowing that Stoke City's former ground was the Victoria Ground.

Also across the shows we had a copy of Gary Pallister's autobiography "Pally" to give away, I played an interview with the big man. Steve from Billingham won the book for knowing that Pally formed a successful defensive partnership with Wigan manager Steve Bruce.

This week I will be at Pools for their Carling Cup tie against Premier League West Brom then on Saturday at the Riverside for Boro v Stoke City, so if you see me pop up and say hello.

On air this weekend, as well as the chance to win the meals, we will also have two tickets up for grabs for Sedgefield races on September 2nd.

Make sure that you tune in and give me a call on Saturday evening.

I hope that you enjoy the shows. I am always open to suggestions as to how we can improve their content and keen to hear your views, especially live on air.
