JEFF AND TFM PART COMPANY - YOUR RESPONSES - PART TWO 16-6-08
Following the announcement of TFM severing ties with Jeff, there has been plenty of response regarding the decision from disgruntled fans.
Here is the second part of the correspondence Jeff has received.
From: Ron
Jeff, I'm very sorry to hear about the show. To coin the Joni Mitchell song: "They Won't Know What They've Got Till It's Gone".
Seriously mate, we can't be ringing in to 605 etc, as we never get a look-in. This is along with the fact that we know you go to games and have a more sympathetic ear, especially to Poolies and Darloids.
Look after yourself mate.
All the best, Ron Harnish
P.S. Poor Bert and Bob the Fetish will struggle big time!!
Jeff's reply
Thanks Ron, I did try to give the Poolies and Darlo fans an ear and they appreciated it. Should I get back on air, I will continue to do so.
Best Wishes
Jeff

Hi Jeff
Your show was unique. Everyone wants to hear or read Jeff Winter's opinion! I wonder why?
Cheers, Peter
Jeff's reply
I am sure some people will be glad not to hear my opinion. I just tried to be entertaining and amusing, coupled with a little bit of knowledge and experience.
I know that TFM have been inundated with emails complaining about the axing of the shows. It won't make any difference though. They can't afford me or sport. It's a big mistake as they may find out.
Best Wishes

Jeff, I know I have only traded a few emails with you (of late, those publicising the charity game at Synners) but I was a regular listener to your show and am disappointed it's not coming back.
Whilst reading the report in the Gazette, I mentioned to my wife that I was surprised to read you wouldn't be back having received a recent email from you telling us you would be.
To confirm things, and in the need to email you to get the facts, I kicked my teenagers off the PC from their usual MSN sites in a fashion that may have warranted a straight red. I have since picked up your message.
I can't say I am gobsmacked as corporate decisions these days occasionally have no logic. However, I am surprised that whoever plots the strategy at TFM have looked upon your show as an item to be sacrificed. They should have been nailing you down to a long and rewarding contract.
You should send your bosses' name into the Apprentice show for its next series as they could demonstrate their business sense to the country and see how long it takes for Sir Alan to give them his final words: "You're Fired".
Please let me know where you end up as I will be returning to hear your combined wit and professional banter which surely won't be lost to the airwaves completely.
Thanks for the craic and hope to hear you soon... otherwise I might have to fork out a bit of cash for some of that after dinner speaking and you can suffer a room full of Geordie, Mackem and Smoggie plumbers...
Regards

Jeff's reply
Thanks Ian, I will continue to write my various columns which will appear on my website and of course I will perform at the After Dinner gigs. I want to continue on radio, preferably local, but we will see.
Best wishes

Jeff, I'm sorry to see that you are leaving us. I'll miss your banter and witticisms on Saturdays.
Best of luck to you in all that you want to do with your career in the future. I hope to see you or hear of what you are doing soon.
Best regards, Arthur Thompson, Darlo supporter.
Jeff's reply
Thanks Arthur. Keep in touch with my columns etc on www.jeffwinter.co.uk.

TFM got wise and booted you out on your fat behind, hahah.
Jeff's reply
Why don't you fuck off and get a life. If your claim to fame is insulting me and shouting for Gareth Southgate to be sacked then you really are a sad little bastard.

I'm sorry to hear the news Jeff. I felt that last season you made real progress on your Newcastle based rival. I don't know what TFM are thinking as it was certainly a Teesside show. All the best in the future.

Jeff's reply
Yes I know mate. I was also going to take you up on your offer to cover non-league football on the show next season as well.
Best Wishes
Jeff

Hi Jeff.
I have just read the email and to be blunt, it has really peed me off. It is a typical decision made by people who are not up to speed with what listeners want. TFM has got most of its priorities right but in this instance I feel it has shot itself in the foot.
I have been a listener and contributor for a while now and Saturdays will not be the same any more. I enjoyed all the banter and the comps etc and as such it's going to leave a void on Saturdays, a void which I feel will not be filled.
With your two programmes, you made what Saturdays and football is all about as the banter before and after the game was excellent. What's it going to be replaced with? Bugger all in the way of what we have been used to in the past. Does TFM realise that listeners have opinions too?
If it is not going to be reinstated, can I ask one thing of you? Get a job on Match of the Day and replace those Thunderbird puppets of Hanson and co, with Jeff and Dave, oh and me, to supply the humour.
Match of the Dayhas been crap since Lineker took over so get on to the Beeb and shove the Muppets out. If we cannot have you on TFM then maybe Match of the Day is the answer.
Best of luck and keep in touch.
P.S. if you are having a BBQ anytime and want some quality meat at the right price, let me know.

Jeff's reply
I'm always keen to fill the freezer mate. I do appreciate your comments, your input and your support. The shows were a labour of love and I will miss them. The rapport we had built up with the listeners was fantastic.
I hope to be involved in some way in the future and will keep you posted. In the meantime, keep in touch via my website, www.jeffwinter.co.uk.
Best Wishes
Jeff
