Would it not be lovely if every week we had only the positive aspects of the
beautiful game to discuss?
Well, as everyone is well aware, that utopia does
not exist and barely a week goes by without a team or one of its players
or managers sullying the image of the game.
Diving, dirty two-footed
tackles, shirt pulling, cheating, general poor behaviour and a lack of
sportsmanship are all prevalent.
This, coupled with poor refereeing decisions, gives us a ready-made list of candidates for the nomination of "Villain of the Week".
This
column will name and shame the culprits.
Will it make any difference? I hope so, but doubt it. The
win at all costs attitude will dictate the levels that people will go to,
but I will feel better for at least getting my thoughts off my chest.
